Not sure why it’s ranked top 10 school but I wouldn’t recommend nobody start they college career here u want something more serious, don’t wanna get robbed of ur tuition?, I can go on and on but overall school is horrible

UMES is absolutely great. Classes are definitely competitive for those there to learn. Programs are wonderful along with the people. Food can have some improvements though but its not disappointing. My experiences were awesome, even for an introvert like me I had a blast. Piece of advice though, go there to learn so you can represent the University. If graduation rates are low is due to the fact many people are not willing to put the effort. In part this is due to the loose admission process. Also not a problem but It will be nice for more hispanics to be targeted for admission. Just a bit more of cultural diversity.

I'm about 3 steps away from withdrawing my daughter from this school. They give you the run around for basic questions...nobody responds back to emails (it's been 3 months) and magically everyone goes to lunch when you call them on the phone. This school is unprofessional and a hassle.

My experience with this university was not pleasant.
I applied for a postgraduate course and PAID money for my application to be processed by their department. Guess what, after some long time of not hearing back from them I sent them many emails asking about the status of my application and got no response.
really bad and unprofessional behavior by the program coordinator.

Was waste of time and money to apply for this university.

Honestly having attended a mid-major University (Ohio Univ) and transferring to UMES. I don't regret my decision nor experiencing the family environment; or countless of times having to eat late nights at the Hawks nest with friends/classmates. This University was true to its core. There were many teachers whom went beyond the classroom limits to help, aid; house some of these students whom just wanted to finish school but was experiencing some challenging moments. I'm not going to lie...you have novices working especially in the Financial Aid office that are more a hinderance then a help.

Umes is a great school; don't let anyone fool you ;before you judge it get more information about the school. My experience here I always found instructors here who want you to do your best and push you to be successful. Success isn't determined by the school it's determined by you.
