Most unprofessional technicians I have dealt with in 30 years. Be aware. This company will cost you more money than whatever your original problem was. They are about the only ones locally who will respond to emergencies, but the damage they cause along the way is not worth it.

Home owner and business owner beware! These guys will overcharge, break your equipment, then charge again to “fix it”! Then they will constantly threaten you with attorneys and credit bureaus if you challenge their unprofessional and unethical charges and practices. Plus, the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing!

Now that I'm no longer employed by this company, I feel obligated to write my true review of System Service and Engineering. I can't speak for all departments, but I can certainly speak for the HVAC install department. This is not for new construction HVAC. This is for the install crew, which persisted of around 8 people, including myself. Let's get into it..

I started this job a little over 2 years ago, with an open mind. I was skeptical and nervous, to say the least, as I had no previous experience in hvac work, let alone using basic hand tools. I was coming into this job completely blind but very eager to learn. I was hired on as a "helper," which is quite a funny title, used to describe the second person doing the other half of the work. Nonetheless, that was my title, and I was willing to do what it took to work up and become a lead install technician. Anyway, when I first got hired, I was assured that I would be trained and taught all necessary steps to assist in completing job tasks with my trainer(s). This couldn't have been further from the truth. Through the first couple of weeks, I spent my with someone who was already planning to go to another company for better pay. He showed no regard for me, my experience [or lack thereof], or desire to pass any knowledge or vital information that I could use to better understand the job. After those grueling, frustrating 2 weeks, I was passed off to another trainer, whom I spent the majority of my time with at the company throughout my 2 years. Six months went by, and I still had very little knowledge of hvac or experience being hands-on with tools. I spent my time watching, not understanding the steps and certain processes that were underway. This went on from job to job consecutively. To me, it was like watching a pilot fly a plane from the cockpit and not explaining the purpose or functions of the electronic buttons. I then got moved to the worst trainer in the department, who I won't mention here. This person had previously belittled me and treated me as if I didn't belong from the start. After many unwarranted, childish, and belittling comments, i grew to understand that he was clearly just an angry, self-righteous man child who had no business being in charge of anything. His lack of care and compassion for getting the job done correctly, lack of respect for customers, and respect for those he worked around only confirmed this for me. Him and I didn't work together for long as he explained to me he just simply didn't have the time to train me and that he needed someone who had more knowledge. Thank God, because I was done being treated like a dog, and my patience was running thin. I spent more time fetching all his tools, cleaning up after him, and being commanded around to do various unimportant tasks, all while being disrespected and receiving no appreciation. Ironically, after he whined about having me as his helper and having to train me, he ended up with someone who had no desire to listen, learn, or show up to work. Karma is real, folks. Around my 1 year mark, I finally learned to install my first condenser, which is the outside unit. I was also doing quite a bit of flex insulation installs and other things pertaining to the job. About a year and a half in, I had fairly good knowledge pertaining to my work, at least what I knew would be expected of me when showing up to a job site. I was the one installing condensers, brazing in copper lines, reading field piece gauges, reclaiming refrigerant, running vacuum on the linesets, installing flex, wiring up systems, wiring up thermostats or whatever else I had already known how to do. I could also install water sources, mainly done in condos, with no assistance. By this time, I also had vast knowledge of hand tools due to my eagerness to learn and not only apply my learning at work but also outside of work.
Long story somewhat short, I dreaded every day working with this company. I can't type any more words here I've reached my limit. Pay was not scaled correctly for labor either. All this for a laughable $18.

Came today, Sunday, to fix a AC drain that was leaking into my daughter’s room. Technician was there quickly and was very courteous and professional. So thankful they were available after hours. Absolutely recommend!

Customer service to discuss billing questions is nonexistent. I had 3 items that needed to be fix and the plumber only fixed 1 of them and actually made the other 2 items worse. Plumber was present on property for 45mins but I was charged almost 3 hours worth of labor (he did not need to leave to go buy parts or anything). I responded to the invoice the day that it was received to inquire why the additional hours to which the response was the message would be forwarded to the supervisor. Two days later I received a call from the same woman (Faith) asking me how I wanted to pay and I told her I was still waiting on the supervisors response. Another week goes by without any word. I ended up paying the full amount (extra charges for an unsatisfactory job) due to not wanting any late fees and being fed up with waiting around for any sort of response. Will plan to find another service provider for future.

I decided to give them two stars because in the past I have been satisfied and receive good service.

That’s why I called them first when the air conditioner suddenly went out in our condo. I had guests in there and I mediately put portable coolers in because I knew it would be at least a few days before a new air conditioner could be installed.

If they would’ve said,

“Here’s the contact information of our best competition. We’re just too busy to help right now.”

That would’ve been a lot better.

Follow up was spotty, inconsistent, or not at all. When I finally did get a bid for a new system their quote was $9000 more then what I eventually ended up paying from a quality company in the area. You can read my review on Quincy Heating & Air there. That’s almost double what Quincy Heating and Air charged.

They did pack quickly and replace the water heater. But I had requested for them to replace it with 120 gallon tank which was in there already. They charge me $2800 so I figured that must’ve been for that extra large tank. I just got back to the condo this week making sure everything’s OK and I have an 80 gallon water heater instead.

Ironically, after leaving three desperate text messages with the sales person helping me, I’m trying to call them with no response, three weeks later he finally got back to me and wanted to know how we could go forward with them so I’ll be my air conditioning problem.

I can tell by the reviews that others have posted that this has been a good company in the past. Maybe this season was extra hard for them. Hopefully this is a wake up call and they can get it together.

Our heat went out in the dead of winter on some of the coldest days we've had. Months prior, we just recently had a baby and were panicking at the thought of not having a warm house for him. We called another HVAC company before this who said they were coming out and never came. Our friend, Mike Perkins, recommended System Service & Engineering and to sum it up, they were the most friendly, most respectful staff i've ever had the pleasure of working with. They were so responsive, constantly communicating with us and working around our schedule; timely; and they were just as concerned as we were about not having heat with a baby! That is when you know you picked the right company. All in all, they ended up fixing our heat and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, it's probably the best customer service I've ever had in my entire life. I will be recommending them to everyone in the area.
