Purchased two engines from them in September of last year. Paid to have a reputable shop install both. Second trip out this spring one engine spun a rod bearing. I took it to the shop when I noticed the problem and during that period I have tried to contact Raul and rapido several times. I have left several voicemails etc. not one call has been returned. I mentioned in my voicemails that I am easy to work with and I don’t have ridiculous expectations, just some help trying to resolve this issue. I would gladly pay for shipping one way. I wouldn’t even be opposed to covering some of the parts/labor. I now have to resort to disputing 1/2 of the $8600 charge in order to resolve the situation and have the engine rebuilt locally.

There were a lot of good reviews so I took a chance as they were roughly $3000 cheaper than competition on a pair of big blocks. If I could have gotten the help that was explicitly outlined by their warranty policy, even with the engine failure I would have given a 5 star review. In hindsight I wish I would have went with marine engine out of Michigan, or a local builder.

I dropped in one of their small block 351 engines for my 1990 Mastercraft prostar 190 back in 2018…. It’s about to be 2024 so that’s at least 5 years on this motor and it runs amazing!
I recommend them to anybody in need of a high quality motor!
Thank you Rapido for your service and bringing my old Mastercraft back to life!!

With so many reman engine builders out there avoid Rapido Marine one at all cost. Bought 2 reman vortec engines from them and when inspecting internals there were so many flaws. The cylinders were bored .030 over which is normal but they didn’t go far enough to cut out a .004 thousandth’s linear cut in the bore. The piston won’t seal in the top 2/3 of the piston stroke. This was one of many cylinder wall gouges I could pick with my finger nail. They also reinstalled multiple failed lifters that would have destroyed the cam. Absolutely terrible QA. The valve to seat grind on the heads is terrible as there are huge grind marks on the valve edge and the deck of the block looks like it’s been hit with a chisel in about 50 spots. I have to re-machine the block and re-cut the cylinder walls just so they will seal.

Ten years ago I bought an long block from them with no problems. I bought one in 2023 for another boat and it was trash, spun a bearing rod and the crankshaft was still dirty, it's shot after the break in period is over. Would not deal with again. I sent an email asking for resolution but heard nothing back. I cannot recommend this company.

READ THIS !!! Bought a 5.7 V-8 Mercrusier. In 2013 a rebuilt engine. Yes 2013. Had it shipped to Chicago. Just dewinterized it. RUNS EXCELLENT STILL. have a total of 350 hours on it. 650 on the boat. Fires right up after the long cold winter. I can reccomend Rapido Marine 100%.

Awesome Team and service at Rapido Marine! Raul, Angel and Carla were very helpful and worked hard to make sure my 305 to 350 GM long block transplant is set up for success. Previous 305 long block from a "big name" rebuilder lasted less than 50 hrs due to coolant in the combustion chamber damaging the piston and cylinder wall. Rapido does all grinding and machining in house and they know their stuff !

UPDATE: I have received multiple calls, follow up and help from Raul who helped troubleshoot the below problem to the cylinder head bolts not being sealed with thread sealant during initial build, which is an incorrect build. I took them out one by one, applied thread sealant and re-torqued the bolts at Raul’s advice and no more leaks. Engine goes in tomorrow and soon to be run to test. Raul has been extreme helpful and friendly as has always been the case, just wish I had not had to go through weeks of stress and myriad on line, BBB, etc. complaints to get the contact path flowing again. I have moved my star rating from 1 to 3, with better communication it would easily be a 4 or 5.

Hello Raul,

Please return my phone calls and e-mails. I am unable to contact you on your work are cell phone numbers.

I have praised your company for years and purchased (2) engines from you, so I am sure you can image my surprise at receiving the silent treatment. I have contacted the BBB for assistance in convincing you to answer with a phone call also. As one of my voicemails stated, please do not be fearful to call, I merely wish to discuss the below topic with you in a gentlemanly fashion:

In summary - the long block engine I purchased from you a couple of month back is now built-up and ready to install in my boat. I installed a fresh water system and decided to pressure test before installing the engine and I could not hold pressure. To my surprise the engine is leaking air at both head gaskets areas, aft, outboard section of the cylinder heads, and along the outboard sides.

Again, I merely wish to discuss the best way forward to get this engine working and into my boat. This does not necessarily mean any financial investment for you, lawsuit, or other hardship.
