Nightmare in Woodbury!

1. Overfilled Transmission fluid
2. Underfilled Engine oil
3. Double charged $48 for additional 4 quarts of ATF because they changed the ATF fluid twice instead of only once. Should have only changed the ATF after the new external filter was installed!!
4. Cost an extra $15 for additional engine oil because it was not re-filled correctly on first visit
5. Didn't reset engine oil use light on dashboard after oil and filter change
6. Never re-connected the main air intake hose to the mass air flow filter box
7. Lost ring clamp to main air intake hose
8. Left plastic cap from quart of oil floating around in engine compartment.

Bottom line, completely overcharged at $580 ($367 labor plus $214 parts I supplied) to diagnose a fluid leak (easy 30 minutes at best), change engine oil and filter ( easy 15 minutes at best), change ATF fluid and replace external ATF filter ( 45 minutes at most)!

This was basically a simple engine oil and ATF fluid change that ended up costing $580!! If I didn't know any better, one would think they were actually trying to bankrupt me and then destroy my car instead of repairing it! Very disappointed and not going back any time soon if ever. It's too bad because MBG used to be good.

Replying: My review makes perfect sense because that's what happened. I have both repair orders and with that said I would expect an apology and a refund offer not denial and sarcasm. Loyal customers deserve to be treated with more respect and courtesy for the privilege and trust of working on their cars.

I don't wish to call and discuss anything at this point. I am out a lot of extra money plus all the aggravation. The time to discuss things was at the time of service and Bill never seemed to be in the mood to discuss anything with a customer.

Murray Brother’s: a $202 oil change

I wish I could do 0 stars. I am not one to write reviews as I am more of a word-of-mouth kind of person. I recommend restaurants, car repair shops, places that are generally great with service and with price! I only write reviews when I feel compelled to or feel specifically wronged as a customer…. Hello Murray Brothers!

Thank you for charging me $202 for a standard oil change (synthetic oil) and for asking you to “check my transmission”! You were so kind and understanding to tell me not to come back again when I displayed the obvious sticker shock I was feeling. Your standard oil change for synthetic oil you told me is $120. Hold up though, because your labor is $125 an hour and the parts on the itemized bill is $63, totaling to $188. Something doesn’t add up. Where is the cost of “checking my transmission”? I’ve never paid over $100 for a standard oil change and I called P.C. up the road once I pulled out of your lot and got a quote for my make and model with synthetic oil for $72! What in the hell is this ripoff you are pulling?

I sincerely hope as many people as possible see this review when looking you guys up. This was completely insane for you to think a person asking for a standard oil change and “if you could check my transmission” to charge me well over $100 dollars more than I would have paid just up the road.

To all those who like to spend their hard earned money foolishly: COME HERE, give these people your business, enjoy the ripoff and stay for the hostility! I am never coming back to these pinheads.

Edit: to be clear, the last I paid for an oil change was around $50 which was just before the summer. I was just quoted by my trusted place for $72 which is an increase that is fair and understandable. Marine Auto just quoted me $60 today. And yes they did take $40 off my total bill because it was already such an insult, but that doesn’t change the original billed amount. This place that responded to my review is nothing but a total ripoff. Be warned, don’t go here if you want to be treated fair, and read the other 1 star reviews on here. I’m not alone and they do this to customers often. They seemed seasoned in doing this with their immediate combative response, telling me putting the car on the lift was so tough (something they would do for the oil change anyway) and connecting the computer to the car cost that much extra... WAY OVERPRICED!

I love bringing our cars here, not only is the pricing significantly less than a dealer the work and customer service is fantastic. They're quick to schedule you in and quick to call with updates or options that could lower your final bill. Trustworthy and overall a pleasure to work with.

The Murrays' always make you feel welcome. I go in for emissions checks as needed. Today I was in and out quickly. I paid in the front, drove around back. The gentleman did the testing while my mom waited in the car. I return next year because I was late, thank you CT.

What a rip-off! I was quoted $170 on the phone for a oil change on a motorcycle.
While I was waiting for it to be done I saw the mechanic talking to another mechanic for 15 minutes.
Then he walked 100 yards to the main building went to the bathroom for another 10-12 minutes & then charged me for an extra 1.5 hours to put a plastic cover over the oil filter.
They Charged me a total of $280 for an oil change ! I will never again go back there!!!

I highly advise against leaving your vehicle at this shop. Not only is it excessively expensive, but my personal experience has been far from satisfactory. Despite considering myself a loyal customer, having visited this garage multiple times over the years for various services such as emissions, oil changes, and repairs, my recent encounters have been highly disappointing.

During my last visit, following an oil change, an issue arose with the computer system in my car. Despite having completed the oil change, my vehicle's alert continued to indicate that an oil change was required. Upon contacting the shop, I was informed that it was merely a glitch in the computer/sensor and could be resolved. However, the problem persisted.

More recently, due to a malfunctioning sunroof, I sought assistance from the shop. Given the inclement weather conditions, I needed the sunroof to be closed and my car to be diagnosed for repairs. I explicitly requested that no work be carried out without my consent, as I believe that would be a reasonable expectation. However, upon my return after two days, I was informed that an hour and a half of work had been performed without my authorization.

The following morning, I returned to the shop, and the technician confirmed that the drains had been cleared, requiring one and a half hours of work, for which I was charged $150. I accepted this and understood that it was necessary. Unfortunately, the sunroof still couldn't be closed, and further repairs were needed. The technician informed me that they had ordered a motor and were prepared to proceed with the job. However, I wasn't prepared to spend $1200, as quoted. Given the ongoing inclement weather and the fact that my sunroof remained wide open, the technician kindly mentioned that they would wrap up the work, which I appreciated.

To my dismay, when I went to pay, I discovered that an additional hundred dollars had been added to my bill. I was charged $265 for cleaning the drains and covering the sunroof with makeshift materials like a shower curtain, plastic, and cardboard held together with duct tape. At this point, my frustration reached a boiling point. Reluctantly, I paid the $265 and left the shop. As a customer who had frequented this establishment numerous times in the past, I felt extremely let down.

Furthermore, despite their previous service, the shop failed to turn off the oil service required alert from the previous visit. This oversight only added to my disappointment. I have made the decision never to use Murray Brothers again. When I shared my experience with some locals, they all echoed the sentiment that it is unwise to seek any repairs from that shop due to their exorbitant prices.

Have always been treated very respectfully. The employees that do the emissions testing as well as everyone working at this business are super friendly, honest, good people (the state money 💰 making emissions scam! Expensive emissions parts make our vehicles break and do nothing to save the environment! I am very sorry to let those who believe the lies!) Anway, I do not want the point of this review to be taken away from this amazing repair garage! Myself as well as many others I know. I highly recommend Murray Brother garage as this is an excellent business and an awesome vintage repair facility.
