On Friday October 25th, my check engine light came on, and the transmission in my vehicle started slipping. I went to O'Reilly's for their free code-reader service. I was led to believe that I was definitely having transmission issues of some kind. First thing Monday morning I drove my car to a local mechanic in the Benton area. This mechanic informed me they did not service transmissions and then referred me to Mid-State, because they were the only transmission shop in town.
Later that same morning, at the time that I dropped my vehicle off at Mid-State transmission, the check engine light had subsequently turned off. It was communicated that Mid-State does not charge a diagnostic fee, and that they would be in touch with me either Monday afternoon or sometime on Tuesday, after looking at my vehicle. By the end of Business Tuesday Oct. 29th, I had heard nothing and proceeded to call them myself. I was informed "there guys just pulled it into the shop, so I should here from them in the morning." Around 2p on Wednesday I received a call, stating that since the check engine light had turned off they were having a hard time figuring out what the issue might be and asked for me to provide some information about the issues that I was experiencing. I then explained that the check engine light had been on, that my transmission was slipping, that the workers at O'Reilly's said the engine code that was being read was for my TCC solenoid, and that I had recently had my passenger CV axel replaced. The mechanic explained that he would start by checking the fluids and go from there, and that I would hear back from them after that. I never heard anything later Wednesday or all day Thursday. Around 4:30 on Thursday October 31st, I placed a call to them to see what they had found. I was told at that time that they still needed to check my fluids and would get back with me. It wasn't until Friday November 1st (5 days after dropping my car off, 3 days after the initial time frame I was told) that I received a call from the mechanic stating that I was missing a CV Axel seal and that my transmission fluid was low. I was then quoted $464 plus tax for the seal to be replaced and more transmission fluid. After learning that the issues I was currently having was directly related to the CV axel repair that had just been done, I did what anyone would do, and contacted the shop that performed the repair work. They were happy to have me bring my car to them to fix anything they may have caused (at no additional charge). So I called Mid-State transmission to communicate that I would be coming to pick my vehicle up as soon as I could. This is when I was told that my car was not drivable, that I would either need a tow-truck or I would have to pay $50 plus tax for them to put transmission fluid in my car.
So after a week of being without a vehicle, improper expectations being set, a lack of communication, I was left with no choice but to spend $50 for them to return my car to working condition. I am left feeling jaded and perplexed by the entirety of my experience with Mid-State transmission, to say the least. If I dropped my vehicle off with you in working condition, then should I not be returned a working vehicle at no cost to me? They may or may not know their way around a transmission but I will not be finding out any time soon. I will not trust them to do work for me anytime in the near future based off this poor experience and neither should you.
$50 may not seem like much to most people, but as a single mom of 2, that works 3 jobs just to pay the bills, $50 can make all the difference in my monthly budget.

A friend highly recommended them. They are off the beaten path, and they would not survive at that location if they were not the finest shop around. They are a family-owned shop, and they treated me and my wife very well. They rebuilt the transmission on our Nissan Sentra, which functions well (two weeks later). It was a tremendous job, but they did it on time and at the price quoted.
It was a complete rebuild, which is not cheap, but they could have bought a new transmission and charged us a lot more.

I was injured a few years ago and can no longer work on cars like I used to, and finding a shop I can trust is hard, but they did a great job, and I recommend them to you.

Let me preface by saying, the employees were mostly nice, but that doesn't make up for the service part. I see a lot of people recommending Midstate online which is why I brought my vehicle to them. I took my vehicle to them back in January just to have them look & see what the issue was. They told me to bring it in a week after I called. So, that is what I did assuming they had me down for an appointment. I got there early that morning, & they said they would give me a call by the end of the day. They ended up having my car for two weeks & didn't call me even once to update me or give answers. I was calling them multiple times a week asking for updates & kept being told they hadn't even looked at it yet. So, finally Friday (2 weeks after I dropped my car off) I let them know I was coming to pick my car up because I couldn't keep going without it. I needed my transportation to & from work. When I came to pick it up, they finally gave me their answer as to what was wrong. But, by this point I felt that they were just trying to tell me something since they knew I had no answers after a long period of time.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I had my transmission rebuilt under warranty because I had already got it rebuilt by them and it was not wanting to go into 4th. I got it back from the shop and when I would accelerate, it would just back fire and start sputtering not wanting to go into gear unless I accelerated extremely slow. I went straight to the shop again and Garry the OWNER went on a drive with me and told me my catalytic converters were clogged and that was causing my issue and he assured me it was not the transmission. I trusted him and I went home and cut my catalytic converters off to see if it would fix it. Needless to say it did not fix anything and I’ve gone to several shops and they are all telling me it’s my transmission. It bothers me because I spent 2.5k Cash with them and this is what I get. Please save your self a headache and don’t go here.

Had to have the entire rear end replaced in my truck and am grateful for the excellent job the Mid state folks did. Truck now runs better than it has since I bought and all was done within the estimated price I was given. Highly recommend their services

These guys are honest and made necessary repairs as promised (took a couple weeks) and they even diagnosed our brakes as being in need of repair (something Everett Ford didn't do). Even with the brakes repair, it was still less than half of what Everett Ford expected. Great customer service!
