I had MAC 5 install a water softener on January 22, 2025, and my experience with them has been frustrating from start to finish.

First, during the site survey, the technician should have noticed that there was no power drop where the softener needed to go. They neither installed one nor informed me that I needed to hire an electrician, leaving me to rely on an extension cord.

Second, the technician did not bring any salt during installation, which meant he didn’t test the system for leaks or ensure it was working properly. I had to buy salt myself that evening and figure out how to program the system on my own—something I would have expected the technician to walk me through.

Later, I suspected that the softener wasn’t working because the salt level wasn’t going down. When I checked, I found that the unit had been left in bypass mode since installation, meaning it had done absolutely nothing for over a month. When I attempted to take it out of bypass, it began leaking heavily and tripped the breaker, forcing me to leave it in bypass mode and wait for a fix.

To make matters worse, I identified the issue over the weekend, but MAC 5 couldn’t send anyone until Monday afternoon to fix it. While Tony, the technician, did come back out and resolve the leak, another plumber working inside my house pointed out that MAC 5 had not routed the PVC properly and that they should have leveled the ground underneath the softener—something they failed to do.

Given these oversights, the lack of attention to detail, and the delays in getting the system working properly, I won’t be using MAC 5’s services again. I expected far better for the money I spent.

The only reason I give this company two stars in because they where prompt, nice and did do the job. My issue is price gouging. $20 retail worth of parts and a job that I, not being a plumber, could do in less than 20 minutes. Unfortunately, I was not in town. The bill was $524. look at the pics and decide for yourself. I have owned businesses and know there is overhead, but come on. The pics are before and after. Nothing wrong with the work, just the fairness of the price.

Trystan and Dill were very prompt, professional, and personable. I appreciate how accommodating they were to schedule a toilet install even though it was clear that the schedule is packed.

Trystan even asked if we needed any other plumbing services so it could be less expensive in the long run.

Again I appreciate this team’s professionalism and willingness to help me out as a customer.

Horrible company. Seriously, if you want to save yourself a headache, a bad experience and deception, Then don't hire this company. Don't let the 5 stars fool you. They are terrible. They promise you things and don't deliver. They do the job poorly and the problem continues. In the end, they give you a grimace and tell you that you have to pay again. Not to mention that they can't even program a thermostat perfectly. Mine was replaced three times and only the last time Heather was finally able to work. The plenum on my new AC unit has mold again, it broke and has an air leak. Last time I was contacted for a visit by the county. I told them I was still waiting for the solution for my new plenum. Three months have passed since that time and they have not contacted me again. Oh! But to tell me that they must visit me for a county inspection, they are always ready. It's been a nightmare from the first time. My family had to go to a hotel for three days, because they left the AC unit running for two days straight. If you hire this company, be prepared to hire a lawyer as well. (The attached photo is what the plenum currently looks like). So, I've already warned you. It's your decision if you decide to hire this company. 🤦🏻

Howard from Mac 5 was cool and professional as well. Expensive but after trying to get 10 different companies out here in 2 days they came through. And with less of a wait than anyone else. I jad two companies no call no show one was Rainaldis.

If I could give this company a negative 10, I would. Tech came over to check my hot water heater & a shower-head leakage. I was informed $39 for service call and $39 would be taken off the price. Technician never checked to see if power was going through the heater and immediately assumed the tank was old and we needed to replace it through them. (Turns out it was the power).. he took so long trying to approve my credit, so I finally asked the tech to service the shower and we would come back to the heater later. This tech took off my delta shower head and replaced it with a Motel 6 shower head. He never quoted me the price for service until it was done. (because it was included in the loan price). After the tech finished in my shower, I realized he took my shower head. I texted him to please return my shower head which was only a year old and he texted back that he would when he was back in my area. I don’t care if it didn’t work, he should have asked if I wanted him to dispose of it and not just walk off with it. I could have had the second company check it and fix.. This was on 1/27, today’s date is 1/30. I contacted the office several times, spoke with Daniel, who promised he will send someone to bring my shower head back, today. Again, nothing.

Update: they sent a dry wall guy out the first time and he designed texture like an artist. Unfortunately it didn't go. However, within a week they sent Mike out who absolutely took the right approach and I am a happy customer! Thanks for making it right MAC5.

Great service and knowledgeable tech spent several days and hours to do it right the first time .. well technically the second it was a call back but he definitely took his time to install the flange and fix the leak. Didn't caulk around toilet and the floor was covered with broken pieces of wood or it would have been 5/5. Solid 4.5
