FHG Marine is one of the few companies in South florida that has licensed Chief Engineer USA Merchant Mariners. This is important because they understand the entire system vs other vendors who only focus on one specific piece of equipment and tell you to call someone... Rich and his team are honest and professional.

Originally hired them to do an engine replacement and after the quote I got decided to go with another mechanic since the quote was $12K less. I've spent over the last month trying to close out my bill and have funds returned to me. Communication has been terrible, not calling back or responding to emails. They have not followed through on actions they have stated multiple times. The bill I did receive finally has more labor billed than could have been completed given nothing was actually repaired. This is a shame because when I started this process with them they were communicating great and I was feeling good about working with them. After I told them to stop work it has been like pulling teeth getting anything done

I am the manager of multiple vessels in the South Florida area. I recently was introduced to FHG Engineering from a colleague regarding a 20-year-old vessel that needed main engine repairs and general fixes of multiple systems. After some bad experiences, I told this colleague I needed someone I can rust. When it comes down to who services your vessels’ critical systems, there are many considerations. An old school captain who taught me most of what I know about engineering, yard period management and general maintenance once told me, “if you have a company show up to work on your boat you haven’t worked with before, throw them a line and ask them to tie a bowline. If they can tie it, let them on, if they can’t, thank them for their time”. Times and technology have changed a lot since that lesson; however, the consideration has not. Richard and Rob do not need this test. I have yet to work with many other companies in the marine industry that showed up on time for the quote, showed up on time for the scheduled service, and stuck to what they said the price would be. As a manager of multiple vessels, having a company I don’t have to worry about who also does great work and can trust the opinions of, is more than enough for me to call back. Richard, Rob, and Kathleen, thank you all for your knowledge, great work and professionalism!

FHG responded quickly to and number of issues that have cropped up on my 2006 Chris*Craft Roamer 43. Last repair was to our starboard Volvo-Penta 75P EDC engine that shut down suddenly while out cruising. Engine was not overheating, good oil pressure, - total mystery. FHG came aboard and diligently checked engine and wiring and discovered a harness plug that had become dirty/corroded. They did not stop there and followed the wiring to the Engine Control Unit (ECU) to make sure that was the issue. Engine repaired in little time and we were back on the water!!! FHG is incredible!

Rich Grennan is truly a master mechanic, he was instrumental in resurecting our Westerbeke night generator had a failed mechanical raw water pump and incurred sea water contamination. The repairs required working in tight quarters and the work was completed in record time rebuilding the pump and and the injector pump. Their pricing was fair and the work was completed in a professional manor. We have also used them to change thru hull fittings during our last haul out on "Four Seasons" a Miami based 56' Neptunus, motor yacht. These guys are dependable and reliable, I would highly recommend them and will be using their services in the future.
