Joe at Competitive Electric worked on a few electrical projects for me including installing an EV charger. He did a great job at a reasonable price. He was quick to get back to me and was always in communication about the project. He also helped me fix a light fixture that was above the middle of a stairway with no easy way to access it. He was very creative in how to get up there to fix it. I will definitely call Joe again when I need electrical work.

Joe is the owner of this business. He does all the work himself. Such a personable, honest + helpful fellow. He's quite accommodating as well. When I needed a bit of help moving some furniture out of the way, so that he could access a few outlets, he pitched right in! He volunteered + had no qualms about it.

To find a reliable electrician, I looked at the BBB (Better Business Bureau) website. I'd reached out to a larger company listed there. After one week, I'd not heard back. I went back to the same site + selected another big company. When I'd not heard back from the second company, after having waited a week, I returned to the site one last time. Three time's a charm! I contacted Joe of Competitive Electric. He got back to me in just a few hours. (By the way, I've never heard back from the first two businesses!)

The moral of the story - don't be fooled into thinking that the companies with the greatest Internet advertising are the best. Bigger is not necessarily better! Joe Gravesen is a one man business and was much more helpful than 'the big guys' in the neighborhood!

He does it all. The first time I needed his help was to replace a very old outlet and bring it up to code. The next time I asked him to help was when one of the rooms in my home lost power. It wound up being quite a complex + confusing job. Joe persevered until he got it sorted out. My point is that he'll take on a very small job just as he'll take on an extensive one.

Here's the thing that sets Joe apart from other licensed contractors - he keeps his clients informed every step of the way! He understands that most of us are not well versed in electrical matters. Rather than performing his work in solitude + silence, he explains exactly what the problem is. He keeps you in the loop so you can make informed decisions. This was, you can follow along with his progress as-well-as learn what precautions cou can take to prevent a similar situation occuring again.

Great experience from start to finish. We had an issue with our hardwired smoke detectors. They came out right away . The technician was friendly and efficient. The cost was more than fair. I would recommend this company to anyone who needs electrical work done.

Has an emergency in my basement during a renovation. Needed immediate service. Joe returned my call within minutes of my calling. Was able to get to my house in 2 hours. Got right to work diagnosing the issue. Fixed the issue expertly and according to new code requirements. Was willing to install a couple light fixtures I was having trouble with myself and many outlets and a dimmer switch. He also recommended a separate breaker for the refrigerator and freezer I have in the basement as well and installed a GFI outlet for them. All of this was accomplished in just over 4 hours. Very reasonable charge considering it being an emergency and all the work he was able to accomplish. I would certainly use his services again in the future.
