Horrible company, changed my panel a couple years ago, was getting a whole house generator installed today and they found spliced wires at main breaker from their so called “permitted” breaker panel job. New wires had to be ran to interior breaker as a result of their hack work. More like A S S Electric. Also left a big mess in the wall and eave when chipping out for new breaker and piping.

Here is my review for the Installation of a new dryer circuit in my kitchen together with the box, conduit, and new breakers. I was charged over $900 ($400 of work and $500 of materials).

The good:

-Adam was on time and professional and had a very nice attitude

-Job was done successfully

-The electrical work is 100% satisfactory and safe

-Work matches the codes

The Bad:

The recommendation of Adam to do a knee level channel to allow the conduit to reach the electrical panel was a very bad idea. This would have triggered a huge amount of work and efforts (the complicated removal of the kitchen countertop and wall panel, cabinets fixation, knee level channel, wall patch, repaint, caulking etc).

I am glad I challenged him and he placed the conduit at the junction between the ceiling and the walls

That was hidden with crown molding. Much more elegant and less challenging.

As much as the hourly rate is acceptable and reasonable ($95/hour) after the first 30 minutes ($95). Cost of materials was about$500. I am sad to see that inflation has become the best explanation to raise everything dramatically. I had to pay $200 for 40 feet of ½ conduit. Cheaper prices can be find on amazon or ebay. You would assume that it would cost less when a professional buys it in bulk but actually it’s the opposite. I would pass on the fact that if I try to measure 40 feet, I will be much closer to 25 feet. Anyway, full and above the standard price was charged for materials. If I had to buy the material myself, I would have saved a few hundreds.

Conclusion:

If you assume that by paying the time, you will cover most of the cost, think twice! Basic electrical products (wires, conduit, box etc) can be more expensive than the labour.

Don’t hesitate to challenge experts and never assume that their solution is the best!
